Jump Rope for Heart Update

GES has raised a total of $4,300 online for the American Heart Association and are close to reaching our goal of $7,500. This Valentine’s Day we are encouraging 100% of our students to love their hearts by registering for Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart and taking the Health Challenge. Join our mission go to www.heart.org/jump and join our team. Your student will receive a gift for taking that one step and if they receive at least one donation online they will also receive their first monster. Our schools’ goal is 100% of our students taking the Health Challenge to love their heart and to raise money to support the mission of the AHA.

Have you every thought about being a writer? Well, Melinda Long began her writing career on a rainy day when she was six. Her mother, tired of hearing how bored Melinda was, told her to write a story about Yogi Bear and friends. She even gave Melinda a typewriter to use. It was so much fun, Melinda just kept writing. Now it’s one of her favorite things to do.

If you would like to hear more about Melinda Long’s writing career, be sure to join us at GES on Thursday, January 18 for Literacy Night. Melinda will give a parent presentation from 6:30-7:00 pm, then students will be able to travel to stations that include walk the plank, pirate puppets, and a photo booth. It will be an exciting night.

We hope to see many families on Thursday night!
