Principal's Message
March 24, 2024
Dear Gilbert Elementary School Families,
This past week at GES was very productive. Our students and staff have worked extremely hard this school year and I know everyone is excited about Spring Break. As a reminder we only have school 4 days this week. Friday will begin our Spring Break which our students and staff have definitely earned! We return to school on Monday, April 8th. I hope all of you have a safe and fun spring break with your families.
Looking ahead to this week, don’t forget that Monday night is our Spectacular Scout Showcase from 5:30-7:00. Flyer
The evening will start with our GES Live Morning News Show Crew. They will then turn it over to Senor Hasty and K5, 1st, and 2nd grade students who will sing songs in Spanish with him on stage. Coach Duvall and our 5th graders will hit the stage next to showcase dances they have learned. Our next performers will be our GES Chorus members with Mrs. Baker. We will then transition to our 4th grade students again with Mrs. Baker as they play some of their hits on the recorder. 3rd graders will then perform on stage with Coach Duvall to dance and juggle. Our morning news crew will wrap up the show. This should take us until 6:00 (ish) and we will then transition to our two academic sessions. In these sessions teachers will If it runs a few minutes long we will modify and adjust the schedule that night to still finish as close to 7:00 as we can. The first academic session will run from 6:05-6:30 and the second session will run from 6:35-7:00. Our Immersion K-2 grade band will showcase in the gym and our Immersion 3-5 grade band will showcase in the library within these same time frames. Teachers will be sharing resources and ways to help support our SCOUTS at home. Click HERE for session information.
We will be hosting a Career Fair event on Thursday, March 28th from 9am-12pm for our 3rd through 5th graders. If you haven’t signed up yet, we would like to invite you to be a speaker at our career fair that involves speaking about your job that may not involve using a vehicle (ex. Hair Stylist, banker, teacher, vet tech, etc.). If you would like to participate in either event, please contact one of our school counselors, Mackenzie Hall, via email at mdhall@lexington1.net or by phone at 803-821-1622. Thank you in advance for your support!
Our March Madness Tournament of Books is down to the Final 2, so be sure to ask your SCOUTS about the books their classes voted for.
